When most of our students first arrive in the UK, they choose to stay with one of our specially selected families, where a warm welcome is guaranteed. This offers a very good opportunity to learn about life in the UK and to practise English at the same time.
In a homestay family you can have your own room or share with a friend. You will have use of all essential facilities including the kitchen & bathroom and you will eat your meals together with the family (you can choose to have breakfast only or breakfast and dinner every day). You will normally stay with the same host family for the duration of your stay. Many students keep in touch with their homestay families once they have returned home and remain friends for many years.
Rooms are cleaned frequently and bed linen changed weekly. While you will be allowed to receive incoming calls, you are advised for your convenience to bring or buy a mobile. They can be bought for approximately £60.00. One load of laundry per week will be done for you. There is no Internet access or laptop plug-in point. Please use the facilities at Bloomsbury International.
All our homestay accommodation is checked by our partner agency’s Accommodation Officer and monitored regularly by our staff to ensure that it is of a good standard and host families are given strict guidelines about the services they provide to ensure all our accommodation is operated to the same standards.
We have homestay accommodation in different parts of London. You can choose to live in central London (usually zone 2 but we also have limited availability for zone 1 locations) where the door-to-door travelling time to school is approximately 30 to 40 minutes or you can stay in outer London (zones 3 or 4) where travelling time is around 60 minutes door-to-door. For a supplementary fee, it is also possible to have a private bathroom.
Central LondonThese homes are of a good standard and are all located in good areas of London. Almost all Central London homestays are situated in zones 1 or 2 and the average travel time to Bloomsbury International is 30 to 40 minutes.
Outer LondonThese homes are of a good standard and are all located in good areas of London. Almost all outer London homestays are situated in zones 3 or 4 and the average travel time to Bloomsbury International is 60 minutes.
Our families offer bed & breakfast (BB) or bed, breakfast & evening meal (HB). The bed & breakfast package includes a continental style breakfast consisting of cereal, toast, tea/coffee etc. Half board includes continental breakfast and a cooked dinner containing a main course of meat/fish with
pasta/rice/vegetables/salad followed by a dessert, yoghurt or fruit.
Meals are usually eaten with the family unless otherwise arranged and special diets such as vegetarian, halal or other requirements can be catered for but which must be specified at the time of booking.
We also offer a BB and use of kitchen option, where students can choose to prepare their own evening meal while following the family household rules and timings. The students will be provided with a continental breakfast and will be given storage space in the kitchen/fridge for their own food and drink that the student purchases for his/her evening meal.
In addition, our families also offer Full Board (three meals a day, breakfast, lunch & dinner) and half board with packed lunch containing a sandwich, fruit, drink and a bag of crisps or a bar of chocolate.
* Please note that all students choosing any shared option must come with another person (friend/partner) from home.
