Two-year Sandwich Course - Paid Work Experience

As well as professional, classroom-based training, Travel & Tourism Diploma students have the option of taking a one-year paid work placement as part of a two-year Sandwich Course leading to a CTHCM Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification.

Students will have the opportunity of transferring the knowledge acquired during the course into practical work-based skills, gaining vital industry experience essential for those seeking to enter into a successful career in hospitality or tourism management. Typically, students go on to work in senior supervisory or management positions in front office, food and beverage, accommodation, tour operations, travel agency or events organization.

The work placement can be taken upon successful completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma and will be followed by one week of study at the end of the placement to complete the Sandwich Course. Placements are in the Travel, Tourism or Hospitality Industries and are remunerated at the national minimum rate of pay or above, depending on industry experience.

Visa Entry Requirements for non-EU students

Students should apply for an entry clearance student visa for the entire two-year duration of the course Sandwich Course leading to a nationally recognized CTHCM Diploma Management qualification. The school supporting letter will state that the student has enrolled on a two-year course comprised of a 36- week Diploma or Advanced Diploma followed by a one-year Work Placement and completed by a one-week Work Based Project.

Further advice and guidance for this type of student visa can be found in “Sandwich Courses” at:
