Vanessa Shipley

Hello! I'm Vanessa and I'm the Academic Director here at Bloomsbury International. My responsibilities include ensuring that your lessons are as interesting and effective as possible which is why you may see me in your class observing the lesson!
I've been teaching English for 13 years and have lived abroad in Italy and Spain for 9 of those, so I really understand what it's like to learn a new language and to adapt to a foreign culture. Please come and see me as I'm always available to help if you ever want to talk about your class or need any advice on how to improve your English!
What else can I tell you? Well I’m a country girl – I come from a very small village in Suffolk in the East of England and I love red wine, very spicy food, travelling and lying on the sofa watching thrillers on the TV when it's raining.

Mark Frohnsdorff
Teacher |
Hi, I'm Mark one of the Assistant Director of Studies here at Bloomsbury. I love everything English; the food, music, the weather and of course the grammar. That's why I love teaching English.
I've been at Bloomsbury since June 2006 and have been teaching English in London since 2004. Bloomsbury is a great place to learn and meet other students.
In my free time I love dancing and watching movies at the cinema. I also love challenges such as long distance running, kick boxing and I've even climbed Mt Kilimanjaro. Some students say I'm crazy, but I say that it's a love of the job or only because they've made me that way.
I hope to see you soon.

Lesley Stayman
Teacher |
Hi there! I'm new to Bloomsbury International and new to London - so if you are feeling slightly daunted by this city I can completely empathise with you! I am from the North of England originally and I hope to bring lots of Northern friendliness to my lesson. To put you at ease - the students are really friendly and the teachers are all slightly crazy, which means you have the ingredients for a great time while you are furthering your studies.
I have been teaching English for three years in Italy and Spain and I really love this job.
In my spare time I love to walk and I am also a Scrabble Addict, so if you are up to it - game on! |

Koji Halliday
Teacher |
Hello. I am Koji. I have taught English in Ecuador, Indonesia and London. I studied French, German and Russian at university, and picked up bits of other languages while abroad, so hope I understand something of the difficulties of learning languages.
Back in my wild days, I travelled around the world. I used to hitch-hike around Europe to practise languages, sleeping in forests. Nowadays, when I am not teaching, I like to practise mysticism, meditating and philosophising about life. |

I hope you enjoy studying here as much as I enjoy teaching here. |

Rupert Shean
Teacher |
Hi my name is Rupert. I was born on June 8th 1979, a very important day in history! I teach Business English here at Bloomsbury and possess an International Business degree plus three years related work experience. I really enjoy my classes as I love meeting new people with new ideas and find helping others genuinely rewarding.
I also spent 2 years living and working in Madrid, Spain, so I know how exciting, challenging and rewarding it can be living in a new country, as well as the effort you need to put in to learn a language. Personally, I think it's one of the best experiences of my life and I would recommend it to anybody.
When I'm not teaching I'm a music junkie! I love playing and composing on the classical guitar as well as going out to gigs (concerts). London is a fantastic place to be if you like music as well as for meeting people from around the world. Hope to see you around. |

My name is Ally or Alison (which ever you prefer), and I've been working in Bloomsbury International since March. I love being around people from all over the world, learning and talking about their culture and lifestyle and especially finding out about traditional food from their country.
I'm one of those rare people living in London, who is actually from London. I've been to a lot of cities across the world and I still have to say that London is one of the best, so I'm sure you'll have a great time while you are here.
When I'm not teaching I like to meet up with friends, do some acting, go dancing and generally have fun. |

Richard Aspinall
Teacher |
I moved to London in November 2007 after spending 2 ½ years teaching abroad. I spent a year in Jakarta, Indonesia and then I moved to Russia to teach in Moscow.
I love to travel and learn about different cultures and traditions. Working at Bloomsbury gives me the chance to meet people from all over the world and hopefully you can teach me something about your country. I'm also a bit of a book worm, sports fan and music lover.
I originally come from York, a beautiful city in the north of England. Even though it is a great place to live, I'm a big city person and cities don't get much bigger or more exciting than London. It's a truly amazing city and I am delighted to live here.
I'm looking forward to meeting you soon! |

Chris Cook
Teacher |
My name is Chris. I was brought up in South East London, near Brixton. I studied English Literature on the roof of the squash courts and later at university.
I now live with my younger brother in a world of bike parts, paints, and books. I hope to publish a useful story before the London Olympics and get the broken pedal of my bike before tomorrow. Neither I fear! Otherwise I like the Brockwell Lido, Denton Welch's trilogy, and Nick Drake.
I am hoping to see the world and learn to paint with more patience than I can currently muster. |
