7 February 2012
Snow!
On Saturday night, we saw something that some people find beautiful and others find scary. However you feel about it, it does not happen every day!
Some parts of London had 10cm of snowfall. What we see on the streets now is just ice and slush (a mixture of ice and water).
There may be more snow or sleet, which is somewhere between snow and rain.
If you had fun in the snow on Saturday night and you have some pictures or stories to share, please send them to us on our twitter: @BloomsburyInt
Please take care in the snow! Ice can be dangerous. Also be careful during the week: there may be frost, where the ground freezes and ice forms. Temperatures will drop to almost –10°C at night!
Valentine’s Day
On the 14th of February it will be the feast of Saint Valentine (known as Valentine’s Day). On this day, it is common to buy cards, roses, even chocolates, for the person you love.
It is also quite common to send valentines cards to someone to let them know that you love them for the first time! Here’s a poem you could write for your valentine or special someone:
Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
Honey is sweet,
And so are you!
Send us your valentine’s poems on twitter! @BloomsburyInt
Exam Tips!
Many exams, for example TOEIC, do not penalise you for getting a question wrong. This means that you can sometimes guess answers that you otherwise may leave blank.
So our tip for people taking exams is:
Never leave a question blank. Don’t panic if you didn’t hear a question properly, or you really don’t know the answer. Keep calm, write something and move on to the next one.
