Free English Grammar
Compared to Latin grammar in which word order is considerably more free English grammar has a relatively strict word order that follows the subject-verb-object format. In Latin, words may appear in any order because nouns have cases that indicate the parts of the sentence to which they belong—subject, direct object, indirect object, etc. English, on the other hand, uses word order to indicate the parts of the sentence, meaning that because it is much less free English grammar is consequently more difficult for students to pick up as a second language. The rules require students to understand word order as well as the words themselves.
In order to help students to understand the rules of English grammar, many websites have free English grammar aids; however, these vary greatly in quality and may not always represent the most effective way to process and understand language. The best thing an English language learner can do is to seek out a program that matches their learning style and can give them the one-to-one, face-to-face learning they need to develop their English language skills and become proficient users of the English language. These programs can take many forms, including print or electronic guides, teacher-led classes, or immersion programs where students are placed in an English-language environment and absorb the language naturally with lessons to help them comprehend what they are learning.
