English Grammar Games
When learning English as a second language, English grammar games can play an effective role of self- and group-study for certain specifics of the English language. Games can come in many forms. Some are meant to encourage learning on your own, either in an online or pen and paper format, other English grammar games are best played with groups of two or more.
Some common English grammar games focus on a certain topic and can be administered according to the trouble spots of the particular student. For example, basic games in learning parts of speech, such as prepositions, nouns, pronouns, verbs, irregular verbs and others can be used. These are especially helpful when a student is struggling with a particular part of English speech.
Other English grammar games that are web-based present tests and quizzes written in a fun format where users generate questions based on their area or areas of difficulty in English language learning, and test results are immediately accessed. More advanced topics of English grammar such as syntax, comparisons, antonyms and synonyms, English proverbs, plurals and superlatives can also be taught very effectively using English grammar games. Of course, there is no better method of learning English than a total immersion program that encompasses laboratory sessions, group speaking, one-on-one tutoring and classroom study, but English grammar games can play an important role of English learning for non-native speakers.
