Explore London, have fun, make friends and learn English!

Bloomsbury International's London Life course is a specially developed programme combining a General English course with teacher-led, social and cultural activities in and around London.

You can choose between a one, two, three or four week course but can also continue with your language studies on one of our other programmes when you finish. Included in the course are all tuition and admission fees, teacher guides, materials and a free gift pack including a London Life t-shirt but exclude transport costs.

On the course, you'll have the opportunity to experience all that this amazing, vibrant city has to offer and learn all about historic London, its contemporary culture and famous attractions. You'll also be able to make international friends, all done while improving your English language skills.


The Language Course

Language CourseThe language learning component of the London Life course includes 15 General English lessons per week (15.00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday) and 5 Conversation Lessons per week (14.00 to 15.00, Monday to Friday).

The General English lessons will help you develop your speaking, listening, reading, writing skills, pronunciation and vocabulary while building on your existing understanding and knowledge of grammar.

The 5 Conversation Lessons follow a specially designed syllabus that matches the daily activities and excursions. The input and practice provided during these speaking skills sessions and the use of authentic materials helps students to develop their practical communication skills in real life settings outside the classroom.

In order to ensure you get the most out of your London Life course, we have carefully selected the teachers not only on the basis of their teaching merits, qualifications and experience but also for their enthusiasm and commitment to make your experience a truly enjoyable one.

As with all our courses, you will have full use of our extensive, modern facilities and additional learning resources.

ActivitiesSocial and Cultural Activities

In the mornings, the programme includes a series of activities and excursions, each led by one of our teacher guides. With the help of support materials and structured tasks, you will be encouraged to activate the language learnt in your class based lessons whilst visiting famous attractions and learning all about London.

Tuesday Open-top bus tour of the sights of London � a guided tour of London from the comfort of a unique London double-deck bus
Wednesday British Museum - see the Mummies, Elgin Marbles and over 10,000 years of world history
Thursday River Thames Cruise � A unique river view of Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Westminster, Big Ben and London�s famous landmarks
Friday Docklands Light Railway trip to Greenwich and the Royal Observatory � stand in two time zones, see the Cutty Sark and Titanic exhibition

Monday London Dungeon � the world's most chillingly famous horror attraction - 2,000 years of gruesomely authentic history brought vividly back to life
Tuesday Royal London and Changing of the Guard � a 500-year old ceremony followed by a walk around three Palaces; Buckingham, St James� and Kensington
Wednesday St Paul�s Cathedral, Millennium Bridge and Tate Modern Gallery � A walk around this beautiful Wren church, across the only London Thames footbridge and into this amazing modern art gallery
Thursday Science Museum � Exploration, invention and interactive adventure from the first steam engine to space travel
Friday Harrod�s and Oxford Street - Shopping! The world's most famous shop and shopping street

Monday The London Eye � see the city from the world's largest Ferris wheel and take a walk past the Palace of Westminster, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing Street and Trafalgar Square
Tuesday The Museum of London � 10,000 years of London's history from the stone age and the Romans to modern culture
Wednesday A stroll through Royal Regent's Park, along its famous canal and into Camden's trendy markets
Thursday Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hinde and a walk along the River Thames' South Bank Festival Centre
Friday Royal Academy of Art, Piccadilly Circus, Eros and Burlington Arcade � London's iconic student Mecca plus Britain�s very first shopping Arcade

Monday Madame Tussaud's - Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Kiera Knightley, Shakespeare. Van Gogh, Picasso, Kate Moss, The Queen, Lady Dianna � what a party!
Tuesday Natural History Museum � An amazing look at the history of our earth from the birth of the planet and the beginnings of life to the present day� including the life size Dinosaur zone!
Wednesday English Games afternoon and picnic Regent�s Park � participate in typical British sporting pastimes and enjoy a traditional picnic
Thursday Covent Garden Market, Royal Opera House and Theatre Land � the setting for My Fair Lady and London's famous street theatre artists which make it the entertainment centre of London

There is also a separate comprehensive social programme open to all Bloomsbury International students. As well as excursions to famous places like Cambridge, Bath, Brighton and Stonehenge, there are international parties and cuisine nights, sports days, picnics, and quiz nights at the college, plus trips to the theatre to see top London musicals and concerts to.

Fright Night Halloween
Explore London, have fun, make friends and learn English!

Fright NightBloomsbury International’s Fright night Halloween course is a specially developed programme combining a General English course with teacher-led, social and cultural Halloween themed activities in and around London.

You can choose to study for one or both weeks, of the course but can also continue with your language studies on one of our other programmes if you wish.Included in the course are all tuition and admission fees, teacher guides, materials and a free gift pack including a Fright Night T-shirt Transport costs and some of the optional evening activities are not included.

On the course, you’ll have the opportunity to experience all that this amazing, vibrant city has to offer and learn all about the darker side of historic London including one of its biggest cultural events, “Bonfire Night”, a celebration of the foiling of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot!

What’s more you’ll be able to make many international friends whilst improving your English language skills at the same time.

The Language Course

studentsThe language learning component of the Fright Night course includes 20 classroom based lessons per week comprised of 15 General English lessons (9.00-12.00 Monday to Friday) and 5 Conversation Lessons per week (12.00-13.00 Monday to Friday).

The General English lessons will help you develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, whilst building on and improving your existing understanding and knowledge of grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.

The 5 Conversation Lessons follow a syllabus specially designed around the daily cultural activities and excursions. The input and practice provided during these speaking skills sessions and the use of authentic materials help students to develop their communication skills in real life settings, outside the classroom.

ActivitiesYour afternoon programme includes a series of Halloween and Horror themed activities and excursions, each led by one of our teacher guides. With the help of our language support packs and structured tasks, you will be encouraged to activate the language learnt in your classroom based lessons while visiting London’s infamous sites of horror, participating in seasonal activities and learning all about London’s murky past.


Fright Night Halloween Sample Programme: Morning Excursions & Activities

 Week A
Monday Excursions orientation followed by the “Blood and Tears” darker side of London walking tour.
Tuesday Visit to the Rituals and Superstition exhibition at the Dockland’s Museum and in the evening, the school Halloween Fancy Dress Party with magical prizes.
Wednesday Drop in on the Halloween “Cackling Competition” at Selfridges then visit the home of London’s gruesome past, the London Dungeon.
Thursday Join the London Ghost Tour and discover just how haunted London is. Optional evening of horror at the Imax cinema.
Friday Visit the world renown, Gothic Cemetery and see the spectacular tombs of the countless famous, including Karl Marx, George Eliot and Henry Moore.

 Week B
Monday Visit Westminster Abbey, the final resting place of Britain’s historic figures and then go on to the Houses of Parliament to learn about their connection to Bonfire Night, this most British of celebrations. In the evening, watch London’s finest Firework display at Alexandra Palace.
Tuesday Walk in the footsteps of London’s most infamous serial killer, Jack the Ripper. Optional evening trip to the theatre to see the Wizard of Oz musical, Wicked.
Wednesday Explore the world famous Tower of London, the haunted home, torture chamber, and prison of many of England’s Kings and Queens.
Thursday The Da Vinci Code walking tour. Discover the secrets of the Knights Templar and solve the riddles of Dan Brown’s best selling book.
Friday The Museum of London. Visit the burning exhibition, learn about the Plague, the great fire and squalid Victorian London
