Our Approach
Our Educational Aims
Through their experience at Bloomsbury international we want our students to develop their ability to express themselves successfully and confidently in English. We aim to provide learners with a practical and meaningful use of the English language with courses adapted to their needs.
We have a course-book based syllabus which draws on a variety of approaches which reflects the wide range of learning styles and learner objectives and needs.
Learning Principles and Beliefs
Our aim is that students will be able to use the language and understand its structure
Meaning assumes primacy over form
Students will practise in appropriate social-cultural situations.
Our methods are essentially communicative with an emphasis on speaking and listening skills. There is also focus on accuracy of grammar, lexis, pronunciation and discourse.
Students learn effectively when they are stimulated and Language teaching technologies such as audio-visual material, internet skills, and Computer Assisted Language Learning, are all used to provide varied and interesting lessons.
Learner autonomy is encouraged with students helped to develop an active, independent learning style.
A commitment to ongoing needs analysis and assessment of students to provide relevant lessons and an awareness of progress made.
Levels

Our courses run at the following levels:
Elementary (A1- A2)
Pre-intermediate (A2 – B1)
Intermediate (B1)
Upper-Intermediate (B2)
Advanced (C1 – C2)
These courses begin with assessing students’ level of English at point of entry and defining their strengths and weaknesses. Students are then placed in a class at the appropriate level. The course covers all aspects of the language including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and reading, writing & listening skills. There is a strong focus on fluency and effective communication, and a major part of this course is activating the passive knowledge that many students already have.
