17 April 2012
London Marathon
On Sunday the 22nd of April, there will be a lot of people running on London’s streets! The London Marathon, a 26.2 mile, 42.2km race, will take place. 35,000 people will be running from Greenwich park to Buckingham palace.
Many people take part in this run to raise money for charity, many also do it for fitness or because it’s a tradition.
The race is actually so popular, that you have to sign up for a chance to race. All the entries are put into a lottery, and names are drawn at random. If you haven’t entered yet: it’s too late, but you may still watch!
Be aware that many streets around London will be closed on Sunday!
FCE Class
The new exam class for the Cambridge First Certificate in English has just opened!
The FCE class is suitable for anyone currently attending a B1-C1 class (Intermediate to Advanced).
The FCE is a widely recognised for commercial and academic purposes. With this certificate you can expect to have enough English to be able to study, work or cope as a tourist in the UK or any other English speaking country. It is also great for your CV.
Teacher’s Tips: Listening
Nadege is one of our senior teachers and welfare officers here at Bloomsbury, and she really loves radio plays!
“They’re great for improving your listening skills because they’re short. The actors usually have beautiful English accents too!”
If you want to improve your listening and even your pronunciation: Listen to radio plays!
