3 April 2012
Easter!
School closed:
Friday, the 6th of April
Monday, the 9th of April
Easter was the feast (party) of Eostre, the Saxon (old English) goddess of spring. Now it celebrates a Christian feast, to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. For some peo-ple it’s also a good excuse to eat lots and lots of chocolate!
Research has found that children will eat up to 2.6kg of chocolate over Easter. That's about 13,000 calories and 1.4kg of sugar.
So even if Easter isn't your thing (you ityou don't like it), tuck intotuck into (eat) an Easter egg or two this Easter!

The Bloomsbury competition finishes on the 8th of April! Get your entries in soon. It’s really easy: just tweet us a picture of you and a giant egg from the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt.
You could win some fabulous Bloomsbury prizes.
Follow @BloomsburyIntl to find out who won and for news of new competitions.
Weather warnings
If you’re thinking about travelling over the Easter break, make sure you check the weather forecast. Despite all the sun last week, there has been a snow warning for parts of England.
Tips from teachers: Helen
Need to improve your reading? Then Helen has got some tips for you this week.
"There are so many free newspapers available in London. There’s no excuse for sitting on a bus or train just staring into space.
"Grab a free newspaper and improve your reading. If you want to improve your reading speed, try and read an article between stops!"
