Basic English Grammar
Parts of speech, syntax, use of passive or active voice, whether active or passive, diagramming of sentences and the correct agreement between subject and verb are all parts of basic English grammar. The study of English is wrought with complexities both from a speaking and grammatical point of view. Basic English grammar can be taught in a course either in online format or in a traditional classroom format.
Any kind of teaching of basic English grammar will include a thorough examination of sentence structure including subject-predicate agreement, complementary verbs, prepositions or preposition phrases and an examination of nouns. The basic structure of grammar and basic English grammar study can grow more complex as more word phrases are added to the simple diagram of a sentence.
Any learner of English will find that the better mastery of basic English grammar from the beginning, the easier it will be for the learner to advance in more sophisticated sentence structures in the long term. With this level of dedicated study, a non-native English speaker can become as well spoken and well read as a native speaker, and can actually understand the parts of speech better than a native speaker! This is due to the fact that many English speakers, while their English knowledge is great, it is intuitive, and the study of syntax generally does not happen after school.
